The Newburyport Charitable Foundation has donated $7,500 to support the Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats’ 2025 Merrimack River Eagle Festival. The annual event was held on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
The Eagle Festival is part of the work of the Mass Audubon Joppa Flats Education Center. Overlooking the Merrimack River, the Center offers unique educational opportunities for people of all ages, focusing on the region’s wildlife-rich habitats. The day was packed with indoor and outdoor activities celebrating the return of Bald Eagles. Attendees learned about these magnificent creatures and other amazing raptors while exploring the vital role our local habitat plays in their survival.
“As an institution that has been headquartered in the region since 1854, Newburyport Bank and the Charitable Foundation are well aware of Mass Audubon’s importance to the area,” said Bank President John Burcke. “Our support of Mass Audubon helps further their mission of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife, and we’re especially fortunate to have Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center and their focus on the Merrimack River as a neighbor. It’s a great asset to our community.”
